How I will teach my P4 decimal…asked by one of our LOB mommies.

Here’s what I will do.
“If im to teach my girl
I may start off with $0.10 which is ten cents n this is to link back to practical use of decimal n being aware that decimal is actually part of daily live.
And then knowing that 0.1 is actually 1 tenth n then linking to fraction which is 1/10.
I think kids before learning decimals need to have a relatively strong fraction sense n not be confused by it.
If it happens, teaching decimals will not help the kid to have leverage on what he knew already. Which is a form of teaching technique which is to link back to what the kid already knew instead of seeing it as totally new topic.”
