Road Map of a LOB student

Math Assessment Programme (MAP):

Purpose: Catch-up programme for picking up what your child missed out learning from the past and relaying your child’s problem sum foundation

MAP is a compulsory module for new students enrolling into LOB’s regular lessons. Lessons are conducted in a slower and relaxing manner so that your child can better understand the lessons while gradually building his interest and confidence in solving problem sums.

What does it cover:

12 Basic/ Level 1 problem sum types that your child must know for his primary level.

How does this benefit your child?

From our experience, many students who first came to us told us they didn’t know about these concepts or they were taught the longer and more difficult methods.

Yet, they were tested these problem sum types in tests/ exams and they didn’t do well.

MAP helps your child to catch up what he had missed out in the past because of poor teaching & guidance.

By going for this, he will have more confidence in solving problem sums, have a stronger foundation in his math and his math grade will eventually improve.

By skipping this, it means you and your child will always be playing catch up in school and it is going to be very draining for you.

Duration:

4 3-hour sessions

Marks criteria:

Less than 75

Coach: Done by our Coach who specialises for that primary level

What our parents are saying:

“Now my child is more confident in solving his problem sums. He even taught me his faster method learnt from you.”

“My girl is now able to do maths by herself. Because she finds the problem sums so much easier because of your methods. Thank you LOB Team.”

Concepts-Processes-Skills Course (CPS):

Purpose: Future-paced programme for motivating & preparing your child in advance for subsequent tests/ exams.

CPS is a heavy content-packed problem sums strategy PLUS motivational course where your child learn 12 level 1/2 concepts, 5 important processes and 6 must-know skills (including self-motivational to be self-directed learner)

What does it cover:

The first part of CPS course covers the 12 basic/ level 1 & 2 problem sum types that your child must know for his primary level.

The second part consists of applying learnt CPS techniques in exam-standard problem sums so your child can better prepare for next term’s tests/ exams.

How does this benefit your child?

From our experience, many students who first came to us told us they didn’t know about these concepts/ were taught the longer and more difficult methods. Yet, they were tested these problem sum types in tests/ exams and they didn’t do well.

CPS helps your child to catch up what he had missed out and we will help him to bridge his learnt skills to knowing how to apply in exam like problem sums.

By going for this, he will pick up indispensable core problem sums solving skills for exams, learn the essential skills to be a self-directed learner and his math grade will eventually improve.

Duration:

4 2.5-hour sessions

Marks criteria:

At least 75

Coach: Done by Coach John and Team

What our parents are saying:

“After having learnt CPS techniques from Coach John, my girl’s grade went from 50 to 75.

She can now solve the problem sums faster because the methods learnt are much better than her home tutor.

Glad we came all the way from Bukit Panjang. It’s worth it!”

“You open up my girl on day 1. She used to fear problem sums. After her first lesson with you, she told me she wanted to practice problem sums at home.

My girl told me if she could turn back time, she should have joined your CPS course. Thanks John.”

Regular Lessons:

Purpose: Ongoing current support programme in our regular lessons helps your child keep up with schools.

Regular lessons are conducted in a fun and engaging style so that your child can better involved in the lessons and understand the problem sums concepts and solving skills while gradually building his interest and confidence in solving problem sums.

What does it cover:

During each lesson, your child will learn 2-3 problem sums types that we have strategically grouped together for easier learning. This is done based on our over 8 years of experience of coaching thousands of students, parents and teachers.

Your child will also be given a study plan which he has to do the compulsory work and awarded with points.

Points can be used to redeem gifts from our Happy Cupboard.

Classes also work together as teams to compete against one another at class level. Some of the prizes are lollipop/ ice cream/ cupcakes parties for the kids.

How does this benefit your child?

Many parents shared with us their children are now:

-More motivated to do maths

-More confident in solving problem sums

-Able to identify problem sums types fast and more easily.

-Have their marks jumped by 2-3 grades over a period of time of consistent practice and hard work.

Their parents also told us their relationships with their children have greatly improved too.

Because the stress is considerably reduced as their children are now more interested in learning maths and problem sums.

Duration:

4 2-hour sessions per month

Coach: Done by our Coach who specialises for that primary level

What our parents are saying:

“We were amazed by her tremendous improvement. Her P4 CA1 results was 40+, SA1: 40+. Join LOB in July. CA2 result improved to 60+ and SA2 improved to 82.

Yes, indeed Jerelyn has improved tremendously compared to her CA1 & SA1 results.

Thanks to LOB who accepted her and has given her the chance to prove herself.

Thanks to LOB who gave her back the confident in Math. Now she can complete the problem sums by herself without my help and look forward to every lesson on Saturday.”

“One of the best thing that happened to us. She done well till today! No gimmicks from LOB, only with proven methods and lots of love and care from the staff. “

🔺 Let me share with you a story on why we created CPS course to prepare children for the future…

Just when I was about to lock up our glass door after my March holiday course, a mummy came up to me.

“John, now I know why your centre is special.”

“It’s the environment. You make it safe for my child to make mistakes. Thank you.”

Wow!🤭

The picture shows our classroom in which children are learning –  a protected room where encouraging words can only reach the children’s ears so your child can believe she can improve too.

“Your child’s improvement path must always start off with this – Belief.”

The moment your child steps into the room, the anxiety of solving problem sums is cleared away by lively interesting game.

“It was so fun! My other math tuition is boring.” A child shouted.

“I could see my girl smiling when she steps out of your centre. She dislike problem sums. I had never seen her enjoyed a math class so much!” A mommy was surprised too.

And having coached thousands of children, parents, teachers and HODs in my last 8 years plus having 3 daughters, that’s just one of my 21 secrets for planting in your child the seed of higher confidence – that is long-lasting.

Before lesson starts, the simple-to-follow 5-step solving method is introduced like a memorable story. When the 12 problem sum types are taught, these 5 steps are repeated and reinforced skillfully at least 7 times for each question. Just so that this is remembered when we work on exam-like problem sums in Part 2 of the CPS course.

Every child is the focus during the coaching. Story-Model-Solve (SMS) is the core of this coaching. Once your child can consistently do it, solving problem sums is going to be a relaxing walk in the park.

But parents told us it’s frustrating to remind their children to follow this at home. So we do the heavy lifting for you here during the 4 days.

All you need to do is to ensure your child submits her completed simple task on the following day so she can claim her surprise gift. “I completed only using 10 minutes.” My CPS students told. “So easy!”

It is by such extremes as we show you that your child really has a safe Plus fun space for picking up my problem sums solving skills which work wonders for children.

“This is why I sent my son to you.” A PSLE Math marker and teacher told me just before she left.

💜 So should you send your child to me this March?

Mummy Chrissy told our parents from our community when they asked the same question.

“Yes! One of the best things ever happened to us. She done well till today!

No gimmicks from LOB,
Only with proven methods
And lots of care and love from all staffs.”
